Original Nolixia practice • Not official exam questions
Take turns. Listen. Ask one more question. Change the details. You can invent a character.
1. Meet a classmate
Ask: What's your name? How do you spell it?
Reply with your name or an invented name. Ask your partner their name.
Try again: change names. Spell each new name clearly.
2. Talk about your journey
Ask: How do you get to class?
Choose an answer: I walk. / I take the bus. Ask: Do you live near the college?
Try again: change the way you travel.
3. Arrange a meeting
Ask: Are you free on Saturday? Where shall we meet? What time?
Agree on a day, a place and a time. Say the full plan again.
Try again: one person is busy. Suggest another day.
4. Ask for help
Ask: Have you got a pen? Can I borrow it, please?
Choose a reply: Yes, here you are. / Sorry, I haven't got one.
Try again: ask to borrow a pencil instead.
5. At the library

Look: Where are they? What has the woman got? What colour is the bag on the chair?
Role play: ask to sit down. Your partner imagines a reply. The picture does not tell us who owns the bag.
Picture answers: in a library; a book; blue.
6. In the park

Look: Where is the woman? What is she doing? What colour is the bicycle?
Ask your partner: Do you like reading? Do you like cycling?
Picture answers: in a park/on a bench; reading a book; red.
Partner check
Could I understand the answer? Did it match the question? Did we both speak and ask questions? Did we check anything unclear?
